Candouni Restaurant Bar

This is one of the highlights of our trip to Greece and we found it by accident. We turned down a side street to look at a shop and ended up seeing this magical resturaunt. A beautiful and authentic experience with delicious homemade food. The owner is also the server and the chef and was so kind, personable and is very passionate about his parents place and their family recipes. It felt like we were welcomed into their family home for dinner. We had the meatballs, greek salad, fried saganaki, bread with olive oil, pasta, and for dessert we had the lemon cake and the chocolate mousse that is made with only two ingredients. So fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is peaceful and a quiet escape away from the busy street. When I saw negative reviews on here I actually couldn’t believe it.. If you’re looking for a high end place run by robots in a fancy environment then pick somewhere else.. but if you seek out the beauty of the small authentic moments, off the beaten path, and want a memorable experience, I would highly recommend this magical place! It was truly so special and I will think of it often. 🤍

The atmosphere is stellar, and we greatly enjoyed the food as well. We ended up eating here more than any other place locally, just because we liked it so much. Personally, I did not find the restaurants with the coastal view to have food as good as they have here, and I thought that the atmosphere was much more enjoyable. They never rushed us, there was acoustic live music that was pleasant. Felt like a great local experience and not a tourist trap! Our takeaway was that we got the experience once of eating at one of the restaurants with a view for that specific experience, but that we just wanted to come back for here every other time. I hope they are there for years to come!

The live music, the ambiance, the food, the service, all absolutely magical! We said multiple times throughout our experience here we wished we could bottle it up and take it home with us! Wonderful last meal of our two weeks in Greece

We had a great dinner at Candouni- wonderful Greek food and the outdoor terrace is lovely. We tried the lamb and fish for mains and they were delicious, and we also enjoyed the house wine. Recommend!

What an absolute gem! We had this place on our list of Santorini restaurants but admittedly didn’t make a reservation. We decided to go our first night and showed up around 7:15-7:30. Luckily, we were able to be seated without a reservation. This place is the best meal - start to finish- that we had on our trip. The ambiance is perfect with lively but gentle live music in the background. The staff is attentive and kind. They also have their own wine which was perfect. The food, oh my goodness the food. We ate it all before we could take pictures but, you will not be disappointed. It is freshly made by the owner’s mother. These recipes have so much love in them. This place was so incredible, we made a reservation for another meal before we leave. I also recommended it to my friends who will be on the island in a few weeks. If you can, put this on your list.
