Full Description

Nestled on Agios Georgios Beach in Perivolos, Savvas Popeye Restaurant serves the tastes of Santorini’s sea and land in a picturesque beachfront setting loved by both locals and visitors. Every day, the family’s fishing caique brings in the fresh catch, while vegetables arrive from local farmers and carefully selected products come from trusted Greek producers.

The story of Savvas Popeye goes back to 1956, when Grandpa Haralambos opened the first tavern at Perissa Beach for local fishermen to rest and dine. In 1984, his son Savvas returned from years at sea and reintroduced the tavern, naming the family’s fishing caique “Popeye”. Today, the restaurant has moved to Perivolos and the third generation, chef and oenologist Spyros together with Popi, welcome you with the same passion and hospitality.

At Savvas Popeye you can expect fresh fish and seafood, traditional Santorinian dishes and creative flavours. The menu features the day’s catch, which you can choose directly from the fish display, alongside classics such as tomato fritters, Santorini fava and taramosalata, as well as ceviche, carpaccio, seafood pasta and options for meat lovers. Everything is prepared with respect for the ingredients and love for good food.

✔ Meat dishes and other comforting plates for those who prefer something beyond seafood.

A gem of a place! A cute and charming spot right across the beach. Super fresh seafood grilled to perfection accompanied by friendly and professional staff. We had the steamed mussels, Greek salad, and grilled Red Snapper. We absolutely loved our lunch and would definitely return.

Amazing grilled fish and salad. They let you choose the size of fish you want, weigh it and give you the price straight away. Impeccable service. Great atmosphere right by the seaside. Fair prices. Would definitely come back.

Outstanding everything. The greasiest seafood you can find. We are three times in two days there. Amazing and welcoming service. Remarkably 90% of visitors were Greek speaking people. I highly recommend this place

Super excellent! Professional, nice and fast service, perfect portions, extremely delicious food! We recommend the octopus with the traditional fava, the refreshing Dakos salad and any fresh fish on the menu! Edit: because it was exceptionally delicious, we ate three times here, including our last night in Santorini! We tasted different dishes and we can say that, not only that we were not disappointed but we loved everything! You cannot go wrong with anything! Thank you lots to the staff and for the service, absolutely amazing!

Our hotel recommended this spot in Perissa, so we came with the intention of trying fresh fish (a must in Santorini). The server took me to the back to show what they had on ice, explained the flavour of each fish, recommended preparation styles, and weighed the ones I chose so I could confirm the price beforehand. She also made sure the kitchen was aware of my partner’s gluten-free needs, which we appreciated. We ordered fried red mullet, grilled sea bream, fava purée, fries, pita, and boiled greens. Highlights: the red mullet was great - we wished we had ordered more than one. The fava purée was extra creamy (a style I prefer to the more textured version). The fries were fantastic - thin, crisp, and served in a huge portion, easily enough for 3-4 people. The boiled greens were good - it was a big portion size of boiled spinach served with lemon and olive oil. I didn’t think the grilled sea bream was anything special, and feel it was on the pricy side. I also wish the pita was better, it was just generic supermarket stuff. The restaurant has an airy and open plan with a nice view of the beach.
